On June 7, 2019, Yam
Shalev will open the doors of his studio to the public and present a
series of paintings he painted for about three months as part of the IGB
project, where Yam joined the studio of Amy and Frederic and focused on
creating his first solo exhibition in Berlin as part of the move to the
city as a young independent artist.
Yam
moved from Israel to Berlin in early 2019, to go to Europe and promote
his art career on European and German stage in particular.
He
was invited to present a work during the Berlin Art Week in the urban
space and since then he fell in love with the city and decided to stay
focused on promoting his own solo exhibition and moving to the city in
particular.
As
a young artist, at the age of 23, Yam was able to present his first
solo exhibition in Tel Aviv in the „Art Space“ gallery and participate
in several group exhibitions, including a group exhibition in the
Israeli government building for the first official epilepsy day in
Israel.
Am 2. März 2019 wird Frédéric Krauke eine Dokumentation in Form von Fotografie, Video und Installation zu seinen Performances und Erfahrungen zeigen, die er 2018 entlang der DMZ, der entmilitarisierte Zone Südkoreas gemacht hat.
Als bildender- und performance Künstler aus Berlin stammend wurde er von dem koreanischen Organisator und Performance Künstler Kim Baekki dazu eingeladen, seine Performance-Serie steps & reflections in der DMZ zu realisieren. Über den Zeitraum von einer Woche suchte er den Kontakt und die Kommunikation im Austausch mit dem koreanischen Publikum und KünstlerInnen in Seogwipo, Paju, Imjingak, Gangwon-do, Cherwon und Goseong. Erstmals performte er in Südkorea 2013, anlässlich des KEAF Performance Festival.

On March 2, 2019, Frédéric Krauke will show documentary photographs and video and installations related to the performances and experiences he had along the DMZ, the De-Militarized Zone of South Korea, in 2018.
As visual and performing artist from Berlin, he was invited by the Korean performance artist and organizer Kim Baekki to do his performance series steps & reflections along the DMZ. Over a period of one week, he sought to make contact and enter into communication and exchange with the Korean audience, artists, and other individuals during performances in Seogwipo, Paju, Imjingak, Gangwon-do, Cherwon, and Goseong. He performed in South Korea for the first time in 2013 on the occasion of the KEAF performance festival.

‚Open Space’ – ein Ort für Kunst, Kultur, und Experimente – wurde 1998 gegründet in der Adalbertstrasse 32 in Berlin – ein ehemals besetztes Haus – durch Philip Brehse, Minna Eichstadt, und Michael Steger (*1968; † 2017), wofür das ‚Living Theatre’ aus New York ein maßgeblichen Einfluss war.
Über
zwei Jahrzehnten hat das ‚Open Space’ Kollektiv einen breiten Spektrum
an Kunst- und Kulturveranstaltungen organisiert, inklusive
Mauerstreifenfestivals, Theaterstücke, und Performance Kunst Festivals,
mit tausenden Mitbeteiligten aus Deutschland und der ganzen Welt.
Mit
dem leider viel zu frühen Tod Michael Stegers – der immer forsch,
treibenden Geist von ‚Open Space’ – wurde das Schicksal des Archivs in
Frage gestellt. Das ‚Open Space’ Kollektiv ist jedoch der Meinung, dass
eine 20-jährige Geschichte Kunst in Berlin, die so viele Leute
zusammengebracht hat, darf nicht ins Vergessenheit geraten.
Diese
Veranstaltung bietet einen ersten Blick in dem jetzt so weit
(halbwegs-) durchsortierten und organisierten ‚Open Space’ Archiv. Mit
dieser ersten Präsentation des Archivs hoffen wir auf Anregungen und
Ideen für dessen Zukunft.

About ‘Open Space’:
‘Open Space’ – a place for art, culture, and experiments – was established in 1998 at Adalbertstrasse 32 in Berlin – a former squat – by Philip Brehse, Minna Eichstadt, and Michael Steger (*1968; † 2017), for which the ‘Living Theatre’ from New York was a significant influence.
Over
two decades, the ‘Open Space’ collective organized a broad spectrum of
art and cultural events, including festivals on the former Berlin Wall
strip, theater pieces, and performance art festivals, with thousands of
participants from Germany and around the world.
With
the unfortunately much too early passing of Michael Steger – the always
bold, driving spirit of ‘Open Space’ – the fate of the archive has also
been called into question. The ‘Open Space’ collective, however,
believes that a 20-year history of art in Berlin that brought so many
people together should not be allowed to fall into oblivion.
This
event offers a first look into the now (semi-)sorted and organized
‘Open Space’ archive. With this first presentation of the archive, we
hope for suggestions and ideas for its future.

Der Projekt- und Ausstellungsraum IM GRÜNE BEREICH öffnet sich gleich nach der Jahreswende für ein interdiziplinäres Kunst- und Performance Projekt, welches den Auftakt für weitere Aktionen im Jahr 2019 bilden wird. Künstler*innen verschiedener Gengres kommen in der Zeit vom 2. – 5. Januar 2019 zusammen und entwickeln gemeinsam, sich gegenseitig inspirierend, einen ergebnis-offenen, performativen Event.
Inmitten der Kulisse aus den ausgestellten Werken kommunizieren die Repräsentanten im Spannungsfeld Projektraum, während das Publikum dem Prozess des Entstehens, der Konzentration und Kulmination der gemeinsamen Arbeit beiwohnt.

Die Künstler*innen von »7 boards of skills« und das Team vom IM GRÜNEN BEREICH laden sehr herzlich ein sowohl zum Performance Eröffnungsabend am 5. Januar ab 19:30h zu kommen, als auch der Entstehung des gemeinsamen Projekts beizuwohnen.
Am Donnerstag, den 3. und Freitag, den 4. Januar von 16:00 – 19:00h, sowie am Samstag, den 5. Januar von 14:00 – 16:00h wird IM GRÜNE BEREICH für interessierte Besucher geöffnet sein um die agierenden Künstler*innen im kreativen Prozess zu beobachten.

The project and exhibition space IM GRÜNE BEREICH is opening directly after the start of the New Year for an interdisciplinary art and performance project, the prelude for further actions in 2019. Artists from various genres will come together in the time from January 2–5, 2019, and jointly, through inspiring each other, develop an open-ended, performative event.
Amidst the works exhibited, the participants communicate within the field of tension of the project space, while the audience witnesses the process of creation, the concentration, and the culmination of the joint work.

The artists of »7 boards of skills« and the team of IM GRÜNEN BEREICH warmly invite you to the performance and opening evening on January 5, starting at 19:30h, and to witness the creation of the joint project.
From 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, and Friday, January 4, and from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, IM GRÜNE BEREICH will be open for interested visitors to observe the artists involved in the creative process.
