Gesichter sind für uns Menschen die wichtigsten Auslöser für Mustererkennung.* Dabei ist es belanglos woher ein Mensch stammt, oder welche Attribute er mitbringt.
Dies scheint mir gerade jetzt zu Zeiten von Hass und Hetzte eines der wichtigsten Aspekte meiner Arbeit zu sein. Ich möchte hiermit daran erinnern, was uns tatsächlich zu Menschen macht.
Jeder Mensch ist vom Leben gezeichnet. Vertieft man sich in diese Linien, Flächen und Falten, fangen die Strukturen an sich aufzulösen. Was bleibt ist ein Charakterzug, eine Momentaufnahme einer Stimmung, was uns den Zugang zum Wesenszug von Menschlichkeit ermöglicht: nämlich die Fähigkeit mitzufühlen. Dabei geht es mir weniger um eine fotorealistische Darstellung, als vielmehr um den Kontakt zur Persönlichkeit.
Deshalb komm vorbei – ich zeichne dich.

For people, faces are the most important trigger for recognizing patterns.* Where a person comes from or what attributes he or she brings has no relevance in this.
Particularly today, at a time of so much hate and the stirring up of hatred, this seems to me to be one of the most important aspects of my work. With the works in this presentation, I would therefore like to remind people of what actually makes us human.
Every person is marked by life. When one becomes engrossed in these lines, surfaces, and wrinkles, the structures begin to dissolve. What remains is a character trait, a snapshot of a mood that facilitates access for us to the essential characteristic of humanity: namely the ability to empathize. When producing these portraits, what interests me is not so much a photorealistic rendering as contact to the particular personality.
